Many of the questions you have about consciousness have answers, perhaps unexpectedly, in the Christian Science view of existence. In this book I illustrate some of these answers because, if you are like me, consciousness has been one of the biggest mysteries of your life.
I address what I perceive to be the many obstacles standing between humanity and a better understanding of consciousness. Some of these obstacles require new definitions to overcome. Some require an entirely new perspective of what life is. In the end, like dominoes standing one in front of the other waiting for a little push, each will topple the next.
This book is for my parents who allowed and encouraged me to think about everything as a child.
And for my wife, Maddy, who supports me in continuing to be that child.
A special thanks to the many friends who have spent their time and thought reading early versions and drafts of this project, and providing invaluable feedback, including Matthew Zawacki, Tina Huston, Alauna Rubin, Hannah Coakley, James Simone, Chris Williams, Kaye Patterson, Nina deCordova, Mike Krause, and others who have helped anonymously.
The chapters of this book are progressive, one laying the foundation for the next, so it is recommended that they be read in order. Click on a chapter button below to access it.
